Hi, My DNS server is my ISP server. In earlier version of sendmail. mail that was sent while not while not connected to my DNS server was just queued. When a connection was established the queued mail was sent.
In this new version of sendmail (8.8.5-1) the mail programs (mail, elm) hangs if sending mail remotely is done while not connecting to the DNS server. the forked sendmail process is waiting on a socket for the DNS server, thus freezing the mail program. Subsequent connection to the DNS server does not release the hanging mail program. I do not have a problem when sending mail while connecting to the DNS server. in summary sendmail hangs when sending mail while not connected to the DNS server. Why it does not queue the mail and quit? I have debian 1.3.1 sendmail 8.8.5-1 kernel 2.0.30 Any help will be appreciated thanks Oz -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< NAME Oz Dror, Santa Monica, California EMAIL [EMAIL PROTECTED] <<Linux since 8/15/94>> PHONE Fax (310) 396-5798 -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: 2.6.2 mQBtAzA/tLQAAAEDAKUy/TEjQ/jiZ+9/WJb/+NHxqkvOxGZ3W/F2JCNm5v5ZTZz+ BVZC9GM/I+plQ8xz+7B+KhDSVax8gxNTAkJ+I7P/zAP2ZDMwVf4lq5ZFxMJC+7c7 ET+hNtmQUt8vCVR8hQAFEbQZT3ogRHJvciA8ZHJvckBuZXRjb20uY29tPg== =EU23 -----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
