We have a working base system and will soon have working base disks. It's usable, though---my machine at home is a UDB running Debian/Linux (it's the primary development machine for the port). Having said that, Linux support in general still has some issues. gcc doesn't doesn't have as sophisticated an optimizer, for instance. Depending on what you intend to do, this may or may not be an issue.
