Autoprobing for the cdu31a and cdu33a in the wrong place makes the
machine lock up very often.  My command line (from lilo.conf) is:

    isp16=0x340,10,Sony cdu31a=0x340,10

(I _do_ have a CDU33A - it's the 2x version of the CDU31A and uses the
same driver.)

Once you get the driver looking in the right place and reserving
memory there, a lot of other drivers should skip their probing for
nonexistent hardware much quicker.
