This can be VERY confusing, I hope they make it easier with diety. I forget how I did it. (helpful huh?) I think it was important not to have mounted the cdrom before using dselect, you have to mount it with dselect when it asks you. Also, for the second question, I think there was a '.' in there. Once you get it to work correctly, you don't have to deal with it again.
