I have installed Debian 1.2.5 on a virgin system and want to configure the PPP network device.
I have recompiled the kernel and get the right sort of messages during boot up. I can 'ifconfig dummy' and 'ifconfig lo' to install the dummy and loopback, however a 'ifconfig ppp' gives me an error of 'device unavailable'. Is there something I need to do to get ifconfig to recognize the PPP device? When dummy and ppp were compiled as modules I couldn't even configure the dummy device:-(.
