I have been having problems with one of the images used to install
debian gnu/linux. when I try to install the drivers floppy, I get the
following output:

    Installing the drivers floppy...
floppy0: disk absent or changed during operation
    end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00, sector 1
    bread in fat_access failed

    gunzip: stdin: I/O error
    Error in archive format.

    Something went wrong. ...

I have pulled this image down from both ftp.debian.org and
ftp.cdrom.com, and used different floppy disks as well. (Of course, I
am not yanking the disk out halfway through the read.)

The hardware I am trying to install this on is a IBM Thinkpad 500. I
do not specify floppy=thinkpad on boot, as the system will not boot if
I do. However, with out drivers, I can't get the PCMCIA network card
to be recognized. This puts a crimp on the ftp install.

Thanks for any help,

Ron
