I have a PS/2 mouse (Go ASUS! :) too. Why don't you just install psaux and "Support for mouse (Not serial mice)" fully instead of installing as modules? But if you really want to, you should just be able to make config and put psaux back in as a module and then make dep;make clean;make zimage;make modules;make modules_install etc...
