i am really puzzled by the behaviour of the latest dpkg. why did dselect automatically "upgrade" mailx from 8.5.5-1 to 8.1.1-2 as per example:
Preparing to replace mailx 8.5.5-1 (using .../mail/mailx_8.1.1-2.deb) ... Unpacking replacement mailx ... isn't version 8.5.5 higher than 8.1.1? the only thing that's higher in the new package is the debian version (2 as opposed to 1). in the dpkg upgrade there is a mention of fixing the handling of epochs, but i don't think the debian version should be part of the package version. did i misunderstand? --alex-- -- | I believe the moment is at hand when, by a paranoiac and active | | advance of the mind, it will be possible (simultaneously with | | automatism and other passive states) to systematize confusion | | and thus to help to discredit completely the world of reality. | -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
