Last night while trying to figure out why cron was not starting up, there were no S89cron files in /etc/rc[2-5].d, something happened to my syslog. Now all I get is Jan 12 13:39:47 walterp kernel: klogd 1.3-0, log source = /proc/kmsg started. Jan 12 13:39:47 walterp syslogd 1.3-0#11: restart. Jan 12 13:39:47 walterp syslogd: select: Bad file number Jan 12 13:40:17 walterp last message repeated 140355 times
I cant find anything wrong with /etc/syslog.conf, and finally have my system set up the way I like, so I dont want to reload. Please help! Thanks, Walter L.
