Hi, any help on this problem would be appreciated.

Upon booting up X with startx, the computer can no longer communicate with
the /dev/cua3, which my modem is connected to.

At this time, only a reboot seems to fix the problem.

There is no lock file for the port, sl0 is still up but reports constant
timeouts.  If I re run dip, nothing it sends gets to the modem.

I do have cua1 on the same IRQ as the modem, but there is nothing
connected to cua1.  This problem hasn't occured on any other debian
distributions except this one (1.2)
