They are of no significance. Viruses frequently forge the source address
of e-mails, and it's not uncommon for lists to be those forged addresses.
It's irritating that the incompetent bunglers that manage these so-called
"virus scanners" allow them to send out these notices, though.
It doesn't help that Klez and kin typically forge the envelope sender,
thus meaning that even correct systems end up appearing like incompetent
bunglers.
There are list headers which can be tested for to avoid sending AV
alerts to lists. qmail-scanner, for one, does this (I haven't worked
with others).
I keep a list of AV vendor email addresses handy which I forward all of
such misdirected list mails to. Figuring that if enough people do this,
the AV vendors will take pains that their customers set the products up
right.
Peace.
Hi.
I canon start xearth with xdm.
I add
/usr/X11/bin/xearth -root -twopix -ncolors 32 -night 4 -wait 120 &
in /etc/X11/xdm$ /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup
but I see only login invitation.
Thanx.
I've looked for the answer to this question in several places, no clear
statement I can find.
Is the Debian powerpc port 32 or 64 bit? Does this pertain to the
kernel and all apps or just the kernel? And is this equivalent to,
e.g.: SuSE's zSeries/powerpc ports (which _are_ 64 bit AFAIK).
If there's a document explaining this in detail, I'd appreciate a
reference.
Thanks.
Peace.
Sorry Folk. I was not attentive.

Does someone know how to make formail look at the From header instead
of in the Recieved chain for the address to send to?

You know, you are asking lots of question here for basic GNU/Linux things.
I think it is time for you to read some introductory book on Debian.
Yep, how about reading my "Debian Reference".
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/
For above question, it is detailed
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-install.en.html#s-apm
sure i will give it a try. but they sound too technical for a newbie
like me. but sure give it a try

I've tried that (on woody) and it does change the menues I've changed
(kedit), but it doesn't add the new menus (although update-menu did create
the directory structure in ~/.afterstep).
what do your menu entries look like?
some of mine:
?package(gnome-terminal):needs="x11" section="Common" title="Star Office 6" \
command="/nfs/Apps/staroffice6/program/soffice"
?package(gnome-terminal):needs="x11" section="Common" title="Star Office
Setup" \
command="/nfs/Apps/staroffice6/spadmin"
The menus are correct, and they are generating the correct syntax for
all the window managers. it's just that the window managers behave
strange, sometime they use only the system menu, and sometimes they use
my menus only where there isn't an entry in the system menu.
I never read the docs on the menu system so I just copied a sample
and changed it.
I do get a "Common" menu right under my "Apps" menu in afterstep
though.

Bye
hello all
when i boot in linux, i always end up in frame buffer mode - despite
setting up vga=normal in /etc/lilo.conf.
here is the entry:
# Specifies the VGA text mode at boot time. (normal, extended, ask, <mode>)
#
# vga=normal
# vga=9
#
vga=normal
# Kernel command line options that apply to all installed images go
# here. See: The `boot-prompt-HOWO' and `kernel-parameters.txt' in
# the Linux kernel `Documentation' directory.
#
# append=""
manual says normal is for 80*25 and extended is for 80*50! ask prompts
at boot.
what is wrong?
I can now get
pppd file /etc/ppp/peers/NTL
to dial sucessfully
I setup the scripts with pppconfig
They are ,,,,,
/etc/ppp/peers/NTL ................
# This optionfile was generated by pppconfig 2.0.10.
#
#
hide-password
noauth
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/chatscripts/NTL"
debug
/dev/modem
57600
defaultroute
noipdefault
user dave.selby
remotename NTL
ipparam NTL
usepeerdns
And for /etc/chatscripts/NTL ..........
# This chatfile was generated by pppconfig 2.0.10.
# Please do not delete any of the comments. Pppconfig needs them.
#
# ispauth PAP
# abortstring
ABORT BUSY ABORT 'NO CARRIER' ABORT VOICE ABORT 'NO DIALTONE' ABORT 'NO DIAL
TONE' ABORT 'NO ANSWER' ABORT DELAYED
# modeminit
'' ATZ
# ispnumber
OK-AT-OK ATDT126308005190100
# ispconnect
CONNECT \d\c
# prelogin
# ispname
# isppassword
# postlogin
# end of pppconfig stuff
I seem to be very close ................
It appears to me that diald is not setting the device to /dev/modem, so chat
cannot find it ???
