Can someone tell me why dselect (via NFS) does things like this: Skipping deselected package 9fonts. Preparing to replace calctool 2.4.9-1 (using .../x11/calctool_2.4.9-2.deb) ... Unpacking replacement calctool ...
and a few packages later... Skipping deselected package xcolorsel. Preparing to replace calctool 2.4.9-2 (using .../x11/calctool_2.4.9-1.deb) ... Unpacking replacement calctool ... I get the same behaviour from a couple of mirrors. Currently the following packages have similar problesm: Preparing to replace guavac 0.2.5-2 (using .../devel/guavac_0.2.5-1.deb)... Preparing to replace calctool 2.4.9-2 (using .../x11/calctool_2.4.9-1.deb) ... Preparing to replace tix40 4.0.5-1 (using .../devel/tix40_4.0.5-2.deb) ... Preparing to replace cflow 2.0-7 (using .../devel/cflow_2.0-8.deb) ... Will not downgrade ftplib from version 1-2 to 1-1, skipping. Preparing to replace localebin 5.4.7-3 (using.../devel/localebin_5.4.7-5.deb) ... Preparing to replace diffstat 1.25-1 (using .../devel/diffstat_1.25-2.deb) ... Preparing to replace libc5-dev 5.4.7-5 (using .../devel/libc5-dev_5.4.7-3.deb) Preparing to replace tclx75 7.5.2-2 (using .../devel/tclx75_7.5.2-1.deb) ... Preparing to replace tix41 4.1b1-1 (using .../devel/tix41_4.1b1-2.deb) ... Preparing to replace tix40 4.0.5-1 (using .../devel/tix40_4.0.5-2.deb) ... Preparing to replace tclx75 7.5.2-1 (using .../devel/tclx75_7.5.2-2.deb)... With only a V34 modem this process is very slow (I know I could use FTP but that wouldn't answer my question).
