is there a shadow passwd system available for Debian 1.1?
a "strings /lib/libc.so.5.2.18 | grep shadow" gives me ...

... which makes me wonder if the code is a part of libc, but I need to
tell the system to use the shadow file for calls like getpwent(3) (somehow).
any ideas?
