I'm running sid. If you use the transcoded fonts packages (e.g. euro support), install xfonts.*-transcoded. Install gtk-theme-switch and run switch to set the default font and font size for GTK1 apps. Run xdpyinfo to check if X detected the size of your screen correctly.
