Laptop is a DeLL Latitude c610. It happens when x is running, and when I booted up in "Recovery Mode" and got to the # prompt. When I was in recovery mode, and disconnected the power cord, the laptop would not take input from the keyboard. The cursor just sits there blinking.
When I boot up on battery power alone it works fine. If I then insert the power cord, it locks up. Either way I do it, will lock up the machine. If I boot with the power cord inserted, it will work fine, but once I remove the power cord, it locks up. If I boot on battery, and then "insert" the power cord, it locks up. Also the laptop never completely shuts down. I get a msg that says "Power down". At this point, I have to actually physically hold my power button to completely shut down.
