I believe lilo remembers -- in some way -- just where on the hard disk it should find the files it needs, rather than using the file system at boot time. What I'm wondering is whether it remembers something like absolute sector numbers that could address the whole disk, ot a partition number and a sector number relative to the start of the partition.
In paticular, if the partition containing the kernel and such gets a different partition number while otherwise remaining unchanged, will if still find what it needs? -- hendrik -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
