in order to upgrade from woody to sarge I did:
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
off it went, but unfortunately I had a power failure during the
upgrade and my system got hosed. (I repeated the above steps, but my
system would then boot only with a ro root filesystem.)
So, coward that I am, I restored my entire system from a woody tape.
Now when I repeat the above two steps I am told there are zero
packages to upgrade :-(
Thanks

"power failure during upgrade"
Damn...
Maybe while being disapointed and sending all damnation on the power
plant, you forgot to modify your sources.lists
Before performing the update && dist-upgrade you have to make your
sources.list point at the new repository.
But, i'm not pretty sure about it but i think woody doesn't have support
for journalazed fileystems as ext3 and reiserfs. This means wathever you
are uptodate with packages, on of the biggest problem of woody will
still be there : ext2 filesystem.
Journalized filesystem can realy save you from the powerfailure chaos
cause it keeps a save track of your files every 5 seconds.
