Argh! Thanks. That's why I'm trying to keep better notes this install. IIRC, I remember using strace to find that solution last time >(BTW, the "correct" group for the >cdrom devices should be cdrom instead of audio.) Changed, thanks. I made sg0 group cdrom, too. Now I have to find out why the CD I just burned sounds like crap.... I ran: cdparanoia -B cdrecord -dao *.wav and my /etc/default/cdrecord has: moseley@burn:~$ grep -v ^# /etc/default/cdrecord CDR_DEVICE=plextor CDR_SPEED=8 CDR_FIFOSIZE=4m teac= 1,3,0 -1 -1 "" panasonic= 1,4,0 -1 -1 "" plextor= 0,0,0 12 -1 burnproof sanyo= 1,4,0 12 -1 burnproof yamaha= 1,5,0 -1 -1 "" cdrom= 0,6,0 2 1m "" It burned at 8x (that's the CD-Rs I have). The drive is: moseley@burn:~$ dmesg | grep -i plextor hdc: PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W4824A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive Vendor: PLEXTOR Model: CD-R PX-W4824A Rev: 1.00 Any ideas?
