Hi all Since I have set up some 2.6.9 kernel configs and the Kernel-image-2.6.9-k7_i386.deb package, I have mouse (on ps/2) and keyboard lock up on a Compaq PC (Athlon K7): the mouse pointer disappear, and the keyboard does not respond. The mouse is a Dell with a wheel and 2 buttons. I have tried to reproduce these locks up with clicking the mouse, without success up to now. I was using a 2.4.18 kernel without troubles before, but now I experience the some problem with that version too.
With the debian 2.6.9-k7_i386 package, I can recover with the reset button and dmesg gives then "psmouse.c: wheel mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away" but most of the time I must restart the pc (and there is no indication in the syslog) I have seen posting saying which protocol to use with psmouse and I have create a /etc/modprobe.d/mice with "options psmouse proto=exps" in it (or should I have put this line in a modprobe.conf file ?) I have also upgrade procps to version 3.2.0. but I still have that problem. I put below some more info from dmesg, and I would appreciate any help to trace and solve the problem !
