Have you run the oo printer configuration program? (sorry, can't think of the command at the moment) I was having similar problems using mandrake and finally contacted OO and they commented that they could not duplicate the problem.. Finally, months later, I get two emails from OO maintainers suggesting the same thing... RUN OO Printer Setup.. It solved my problem...
