Thank you all for your help. Indeed, kdm had not been installed. It now is and I am gladdened.
Nextly, the internet. I always seem to have troubles with this one.
I use ppp to access the internet. Thus, running pppoeconf, I can get on
line. I have also asked linux to connect on boot up, which is does.
I think.
When I run ifconfig, the normal stuff (eth0 and lo) come up nicely,
telling me the informations that they should. However, the ppp0 does
not come up. Running plog, it gives me this:
Couldn't increase MTU to 1500
Couldn't increase MRU to 1500
Couldn't increase MRU to 1500
Remote message: Access denied.
PAP authentication failed.
Couldn't increase MTU to 1500
Couldn't increase MRU to 1500
Connection failed.
I hope you can help me with this.
In Knoppix, running pppoeconf always conects me and all is well. So, I
know what ifconfig should return. That is why I mentioned it in the
middle.
Thank you in advance.
