Hi World!
I have installed Sarge (level from 11/26/2004) on 2.4.29.
1. If I install mc (midnight commander) from that Sarge I get an oops.
I also have a directory where I installed mc-4.6.1-pre1 (latest unstable) from May 6th 2004.
2. If I make install from that directory again (using Sarge of 11/26/2004) and use that mc, I get an oops too.
3. If I install the tarball of mc-4.6.1-pre1 and make, make install that I get an oops too.
4. If I install mc as a package and delete mc and mcmft and instead point these two to the unchanged directory mc-4.6.1-pre1, everything is fine.
5. I note that to compile mc I need: libgpmg1-dev libgpmg1-dev (1.19.6-12.1) e2fslibs-dev e2fslibs-dev (1.35-6) libglib2.0-dev libglib2.0-dev (2.4.8-1) <--2.4.7-1 file file (4.12-1) <--4.09-1
In that list I have the package, the level that I have in Sarge, and in 2 cases the current Sarge has a different level.
Since there seems to be nothing wrong with the libraries (since I run with them) but with the -dev libraries (that I run with of the 5/6/2004 level) and since 2 of them have changed since 11/26/2004, I should try running with those 2 installed.
Am I right in this?
