hiya, security-wise, this isn't the greatest of ideas for a few reasons. first of all, can you ssh to this hp-ux machine instead of telneting? it goes without saying why that's bad. in addition, forwarding x in the clear is not a good idea, because it's only slightly more complicated to sniff out keystrokes than telnet. if you can use ssh, you can do
$ ssh -X your.host.name which will automatically forward x through the same secure tunnel that you're using for your safely encrypted login session. --sean
