Hi Debian!
Mail has a zillion options.
When I use: mail <inet.addrs> it sends mail to that address with the options that I have set via dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config.
But it sends it from "root" (when I am logged on as root). "root" of course does not exist at that inet.addrs.
How do I with an option not send from "root" as root but from "whomever" at inet.addrs?
I checked out the mailx ref manual but the answer is not obvious to the casual oberver ;-)
H.
Hugo,
Maybe /etc/email-addresses to rewrite the address? I've got the rewriting working to add the correct internet email addresss, but exim4 still inserts the debian username. I'm still grappling with this should-be-simple task myself.
Note the many bug reports on exim4-config about the confusing dialog in dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config. Perhaps you can glean some useful hints there.
Good luck!
Ralph
