I have installed those packages and the problem is solved. I had some problems with the mstt fonts package (proxy issues) so it was installed later than the others and the problem did not resolve until this package was on, so it may be that I needed this package in particular.
Thank you to everyone who has helped with this. It was my first experience looking to the community of Debian users for support and I have to say it was a very positive thing.
