I've not direct experience with ATI Rage Pro, so you can try to install the xlibmesa-dri and look if your DRI still works, but i suspect Micha is right. So if xlibmesa-dri don't support your cards you better follow his advice to use Michael Daenzer trunk (http://people.debian.org/~daenzer/).
