Well, the 1920x1200 resolution is fully supported by SuSE Linux 8.x and 9.x, but as I have only one D800 available, I cannot compare the SuSE settings and files with a Debian Sarge installation on the same computer. :-/
Maybe I should follow your advice; the XFree86 mailing list archive didn't turn up something obvious yet.
