What do you mean by 'think you have to use Ext3 filesystem in the
kernel' ? Do you mean ext3 not as module, therefore, meaning a kernal
that does not use initrd ?

The reason I installed knoppix is because in my country, knoppix is
easier to get, but debian is not. the internet here is very slow, so,
its very unlikely for me to do net install and do an upgrade of the
whole system, that could take weeks, and I don't have that :)
