Use Pppconfig to configure the "server" for demand dialing and make it the gateway for all the other machines. You'll want to configure NAT and a fire wall.
You may also want to set up Fetchmail to download mail and feed it to Exim or Postfix for delivery to the local machines, perhaps after virus and spam filtering. The server can also be your smarthost for outgoing mail.
