Hi Debian!
Anybody knows what the differences are between the nv Xfree86 driver (Sarge version) and the Nvidia closed source driver (I use 6111)?
I have used both and see little difference, except that with the former I cannot get glx to work.

It's exactly that: nv is a open source driver, it doesn't do the 3d hardware of the graphical card -- that's why people choose to use the nvidia driver
In case you don't need to run 3d programs, using nv will be fine for you
