Something is terribly wrong with your setup then. Currently my debian-devel-changes mbox has approximately 6000 messages, (approximately 31MBs on disk) and pine loads it in about 15 seconds. Pine mmaps a large mailbox so you most likely don't have enough RAM and/or swap. -- Jaldhar H.
