Do you have a /dev/dvd link to the device of your dvd drive ? You can verify with ls -l /dev/dvd If it does not exist you can create it (as root) cd /dev ln -s hdc dvd (replace hdc with the actual device of your dvd drive, hdc is for secondary master).
