I'm confused; an app is an app, and doesn't need file associations. File 
associations are for associating a type of document file (generally), 
like an Abiword document or a .jpg file, to a specific application, like 
Abiword or Gimp. Can you maybe provide a bit more info on what you're 
trying to accomplish? Perhaps an example would help.
