sounds like we need to wipe bootmagic too

-- once you are in linux ...
        dd if=/boot/boot.0364 of=/dev/hda bs=446 count=1 sync

        assuming your linux is on /dev/hdb   ( root=/dev/hdb1 )

-- or in DOS ... fdisk /mbr

        --
        -- you want to overwrite windoze bootloader with lilo
        -- so you can use lilo to boot windoze(/dev/hda1) or
        -- linux (/dev/hdb1)

take out all that junk ( 5 lines ) for now

        - make sure you have a linux boot disk that
        you can boot off of into linux to experiment
