I want to upgrade from Woody to Sarge.
As I understand the necessary commands are:
1) apt-get update
2) apt-get upgrade
3) apt-get dist-upgrade

One and three, you can leave two out.

But do I have to change my sources.list?
Is changing "stable" into "testing" enough?

Yes. And you can safely comment out the security.debian.org line once
you're over to sarge.

No no. Change it, don't remove it. Sarge is secure these days.
