Hi, Firstly, if this is the wrong forum I apologize.
I am installing 'testing' from the network install cd on a Compaq Presario SN1020SX and I think I might be having power management problems... When I first booted from the CD, the machine would uncompress linux and the restart. So I booted with "linux26 acpi=off" and got through the disk partitioning and as far as rebooting to complete installation. In GRUB I have to append "acpi=off" to get the boot process rolling otherwise the machine will restart right after uncompressing linux. The problem is that now after the machine abruptly shuts down after about a minute of use without not even a hint of warning. I'm guessing this is a power management problem but don't know that for sure. If anybody has any ideas of other boot-time options I can pass to the kernel or any other ideas, I am all ears at this point.
