Xserver aborts when idle

I'm running windowmaker window manager.  My system is config. to boot to 
prompt.  I then use startx to run X.  It comes up and runs fine, but 
when I leave idle for a certain length of time, it aborts.  I get the 
following error:
Fatal server error:
Caught signal 4.  Server aborting

I looked this error up and I think this is a bug, but not sure if there 
is a fix yet.  Is there a fix or work-around yet?
