Write access on mounted drives

Hi there

I'm trying to mount my a samba share for read and write access by a normal user. Can anybody shed some light on the subject for me. I've tried

smbmount //server/share /mnt/share uid=user rw -o username=user1

It asks me for a password and then mounts the drive, but as a normal user (user) I don't have write permission...can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?
