Firstly, thanks to Christophe for these excellent links!

Secondly - I am now a Debian GNU/Linux users!! :-)

Yup, it's all installed now - turns out my CD1 was corrupt and the
installation, well, didn't! I now see that it take about 20-30 minutes to
install the Debian World not 2!!

I don't have any sound yet - I have a Creative PCI card that's a few years
old now but I would have thought it should have installed ok. CD's 10-13
(inc) were also corrupt but I ran out of blank CDs - are sound drivers on
there?

Also, I need to set up my Alcatel SpeedTouchUSB ADSL modem.

Still major leap forward today! :-)))
