I've just upgraded a sarge laptop after running for a few weeks without updates, and now pcmcia-cs (3.2.5-5) doesn't automatically deconfigure the network interface when I remove the NIC though the old version and the current woody version (3.1.33-6woody1) do. I don't have any filesystems mounted over the network, and the system would always previously deconfigure eth0 when I pop out the NIC.
The only errors I can find are these few written to /var/log/syslog Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost kernel: ttyS03 unloaded Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost cardmgr[466]: executing: './network stop eth0' Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost cardmgr[466]: executing: './serial stop ttyS3' Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost cardmgr[466]: executing: 'modprobe -r xirc2ps_cs' Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost cardmgr[466]: + xirc2ps_cs: Device or resource busy Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost cardmgr[466]: modprobe exited with status 1 Jun 2 20:43:38 localhost cardmgr[466]: executing: 'modprobe -r serial_cs' -- Stephen Patterson http://patter.mine.nu/ [EMAIL PROTECTED] remove SPAM to reply Linux Counter No: 142831 GPG Public key: 252B8B37 Caution: breathing may be hazardous to your health. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
