What X server? If it's not 4.3.0 or greater, then go dig up some backports. When I got my i845 mobo I had to get packages out of experimental to get the video up. Fortunately it's not quite that bad now. If it is 4.3.0 or later (I haven't run Woody since way before they did the supplemental release) then you should be able to get it going with xf86cfg, using the i810 driver. Worked for me. I can send an XF86Config-4 if you need it. Here's what I have in my box, for reference: pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x00 function 0x00: vendor 0x8086 device 0x2560 Intel Corp. 82845G/GL [Brookdale-G] Chipset Host Bridge STATUS 0x2090 COMMAND 0x0006 CLASS 0x06 0x00 0x00 REVISION 0x03 BIST 0x00 HEADER 0x00 LATENCY 0x00 CACHE 0x00 BASE0 0xe0000008 addr 0xe0000000 MEM PREFETCHABLE BYTE_0 0x3c BYTE_1 0x03 BYTE_2 0x00 BYTE_3 0x00 > BTW, I am also not able to play MP3s using mpg123/mpg321. What else have you tried?
