I _think_ that it might use authorized_keys2 by default. Only about 10% sure though ;-) My /etc/ssh/sshd_config file has the following line in it #AuthorizedKeysFile %h/.ssh/authorized_keys There is probably a similar option in the SSH Corp version. Additionally, in one of my auth. keys files I have a line that starts from="ip.ad.dr.ess" ssh-dss A1DABdNzaC...rest.of.key If you don't want the Debian user running as root, have you considered kicking off the job as root on the Solaris box and running it to the Debian box?
