try using "WavelanNetwork" ( no space )
        - make sure both ends has the same essid

fix your ap problem
        iwconfig eth1  ap aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff
                where that aa;bb:cc:dd:ee;ff is the mac addy of your ap

turn off wep ... for simpler testing
        iwconfig eth1 key off

manually get/assign an ip# from the dhcp range and see if works manually

        ifconfig eth1 192.168.xxx.yyy   
        route ... fix your routing table too
