I haven't had to try to integrate Lilo with XP, but with earlier windows I found it *easier* to let windows do its own thing and keep Lilo installed on the linux partition. IIRC XP comes with its own boot manager - so perhaps you could install Lilo on the Linux partition and add a boot entry to that partition from XP - then if XP plays around with the MBR it doesn't mess up Lilo.
