something just happened that i've never seen before. a client obtained a lease through dhcp (ISP is cablecom.ch) and when it finished booting, ot asked "dhcp-321-775 login". the IP it got is 80.218.18.254, which resolves to dclient80-218-18-254.hispeed.ch. /etc/hostname is still as it's always been, and i can't find anything in the logs. in fact, the following should be interesting:
Oct 22 01:08:41 albatros exiting on signal 15 Oct 22 22:25:50 dhcp-321-775 syslogd 1.4.1#10: restart. so this was set before init... and there's nothing in dmesg. i am puzzled. the things that make this machine different from others are: - raid (software in the kernel, 2.4.19) - freeswan 1.98b (unstable) - grsec 1.9.7d (testing) - reiserfs any clues? -- .''`. martin f. krafft <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : :' : proud Debian developer, admin, and user `. `'` `- Debian - when you have better things to do than to fix a system
