What can I do that might be able to help me narrow > this down a little? X is hardware intensive. I would start by setting up memtest86 and running that for a day or so (at least one full cycle). It may just be that there are processes in X that aren't dying properly so that you start getting farther into your physical memory and you reach a specific "bad" spot. If you have the java plugin running in mozilla I've seen it open a *LOT* of instances of java_vm -- if they don't die properly as you move from page to page...well...
