I have had exim as my local MTA for delivering local email from very
early on, and never set up fetchmail. Instead, I used an MUA that could
handle remote POP3 and/or IMAP, and just dumped everything into the
common filters. Even with my current DSL connection and a dyndns.org
subdomain, I haven't taken the time to fuss over configuring fetchmail,
as using the multiple sources in my MUA works perfectly fine. I realise
that if I b*gger things up in configuring fetchmail, I could lose email
until that is caught and fixed, so I see no current value to making the
switch.
