So long as you have some free disk space to creat a couple of new partitions (a small one say 256Mb for swap and a larger one for the OS itself) then you should be OK. The current version of Debian (3.0 aka Woody) will automatically creat a boot menu that lets you choose wether to boot Debian or Windows when it installs the boot manager Lilo.
As the previous poster said search the archives for more details and read the installation documentation on www.debian.org. If you allready have the Woody Cds or DVD then the documentaion is allready on them and can be read from Windows 98 ad its in HTML format.
