I doubt it is the IMAP server. Currently top reports: PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 22449 jaldhar 9 0 18700 18M 2820 T 0.0 15.7 1:18 pine 23218 jaldhar 9 0 1836 1836 1540 S 0.0 1.5 0:00 imapd With my debian-user folder open. $ ls -la ~/mail/debian-user -rw------- 1 jaldhar jaldhar 44913963 Sep 24 17:02 /home/jaldhar/mail/debian-user This is uw-imapd-ssl incidently. More likely it is your email client and the specific types of email you're getting (i.e. with big attachments like you said) which is causing the bloat. Btw IMAP fans, there is a new contender on the horizon--dovecot (http://dovecot.procontrol.fi) It looks quite promising and I'll be making packages available shortly. -- Jaldhar H.
