Very off-topic, but I have already read enough benchmarks. I'd like some real world advise.
I have a Radeon 8500 LE which I can return whithin a week. I absolutely love the 2D- (aka desktop-) image quality. Much better than my previous card. For better 3D-performance, alternatives are ofcourse readily available. For slightly more, I can take a Nvidia Geforce 4 4200. I am sure that playing games and setting things up (both in Linux and on that other system) would be much easier. Ati drivers are still not that great. However paying more money is always something to avoid. More importantly I am not sure that Nvidia's current cards are much better in 2D than they used to be. My previous card was a Geforce 2 MX and I have suffered eye (and perhaps brain) damage from using that card too long. It's really that awful in high resolutions. Is anyone using a Ti4200 card in 1600x1200 resolution? How does the desktop look? Bob -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
